Established in1988 as a ministry for The Forest Grove Community Church, The Learning Center strives to provide a Christian learning environment for children ages 3, 4 and 5. We lay the foundation that is necessary for future success in education and socialization. Students soon discover that school is an interesting and fun place to be!
Opening exercises include the Pledge of Allegiance, reciting the ABC’s, counting, and recognition of colors and shapes. Students are placed in small groups of 7-8 children with individualized teaching lead by one teacher. Other activities include cooking, painting, computers, story time and educational games. We also stress outdoor activities for learning and exercise.
Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in projects and parties. A monthly newsletter is sent home with each student. Parent conferences are held twice a year and as necessary. If a concern arises at school, parents are notified immediately.
Speech and hearing screenings are provided at no extra cost. We also work with the Pittsburgh Vision Services to perform vision screenings.
We place a strong emphasis on reading. Children are read to daily and no videos are permitted. One of the field trips for the four to five year old class is a trip to the Moon Township Library where each child receives their own library card!
Tuition is a set amount and may be paid in full or broken into 9 monthly payments. We follow the Montour School District schedule for holidays, delays and cancellations.
Classes for 3 year olds meet Tuesday and Thursday from 9am until 11:30am. Classes for 4 and 5 year olds meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am until 11:30am or 12noon until 2:30pm.
